August - Opening Hours (Part 2).

Part 2 of our opening hours, and ‘what's on’ list for August, presented. 🗓️
And, the first of my Notecards - short thought pieces, to pick up where my letters left off. ✏️

Date: 3rd August, 2026.
The Notecard #1, Movers and Shakers:
"It’s an industry full of movers and shakers…".
I partially quote a close friend, and mentor, who said this to me earlier in the year. We were discussing the year ahead - one that continues to prove itself as a bleak time for the pub trade.
Since then, I’ve chosen to reflect on this idea often, to take this to heart, and to hold it as an anchor each time I sit down to think on how to address a new challenge, or change, that the pub must stand firm in the wake of.
I'll not wax lyrical on the number of these that lay on the table of late in relation to the pub, to all small businesses at that - there is always something newly difficult afoot these days.
One thing that doesn't change however, is a core focus of mine - the long-term stability of The Queen's Head as a key Third Place within our Community.
Sometimes, this means staying agile, trying new things - to find ways to ride the current.
Sometimes, this means taking a small step back - to better lean into such challenges and changes faced.
So, I've adjusted our core opening hours a little. I've paused some plans, and decided to take them back to the drawing board - draft and re-draft so to speak.
I feel in many ways that it’s the very idea of ‘moving and shaking’ brought to bear.
Of course, there will be more to come soon. As ever - thank you for your continued care and support.
